The AKAMAI Foundation is the crucible of a public-private partnership between Hawaii asset managers, academia, and the public sector. The AKAMAI Initiative is a two-pronged approach aimed at improving economic and educational opportunities for Hawaii residents by leveraging sustainable competitive advantages unique to Hawaii’s natural environs and people, as it relates to domicile selection for Asia-focused asset managers.

The first prong (the Marketing arm) of the approach, is to position Hawaii as a preferred domicile for Asia-focused asset managers, i.e., to cultivate an Asia-focused asset management industry in Hawaii. The second prong (the Education arm), is to develop a world-class Asia-focused Financial Analyst Training Program (AFATP), to ensure Hawaii residents possess the qualifications necessary to be considered a viable source for meeting the human capital needs of the industry as it grows.
